Santa, Chimneys, and Christmas

Christmas is a magical time of year and for young children, part of that magic involves an annual visit from Santa Clause. Historically, Santa Clause always entered homes through the chimney. Almost all children’s stories showcase Santa making a grand entrance through the chimney down into the fireplace. (Good thing those fires weren’t lit!) We do know that Santa will only come if children are sleeping, that much never changes. But Santa can be extremely flexible entering homes that don’t have a chimney and fireplace. Young children without a fireplace need not worry that Santa will skip their house. There is no one more accommodating than Santa! Just how will Santa make an appearance this Christmas for homes that don’t have fireplaces and chimneys? Read this to find out!

If There’s No Chimney, How Does He Get In?

There are any number of ways Santa can accomplish his job of delivering presents and gaining access to homes that don’t have chimneys. He can use a front door, or any door really, to make sure that Christmas presents are delivered on time. Santa can send one of his smaller elves into a window to come around and open your front door. Santa can also make arrangements with parents ahead of time so that he can get the spare key and just open your front door. Mom or Dad can even stay up and open the front door for Santa. Scientists at the North Pole are working on electronic devices to provide Santa with easy access to your homes, and new technology might make Santa’s job easier next year.

Just Because The Entry Methods Change, Doesn’t Mean The Traditions Should

Don’t forget to leave cookies and milk for Santa. Even if he doesn’t have to strategically maneuver his way down a long, soot-filled chimney, he still deserves a nice refreshing treat. So, leave him milk and cookies and don’t forget to leave him carrots for his reindeer. Santa and Rudolph will certainly appreciate it.

Christmas would not be complete without a visit from Santa, and even though legend insists that Santa enters homes through the chimney, Santa will certainly make exceptions for everyone.
